Kevin is a Colorado native that loves to spend as much free time on the river as humanly possible. With the eyes of an osprey, this guy can see fish that other anglers just can't. Kevin is not only an accomplished angler, he is also a great companion when spending time in the backcountry.
As many of his buddies know, if it swims, he'll chase it with a fly.
'I work to fish and fish to live' -K. Pitney
Scott Spooner
A true student of the art of fly fishing, Scott is truly a great asset to have at your side when fishing for finicky tailwater trout. From technical casts to aquatic biology Scott always has something up his sleeve and usually it’s an ace.
A Colorado transplant from Missouri, Scott moved here in 1995 and has fallen in love with the 38th state. A terror at the vise, Scott has created several of his own patterns that slay trout and hopes to one day get one of his masterpieces out to the masses. Currently Scott is working and guiding for Discount Fishing and is also the guide coordinator for Casting for Recovery.
"Call me what you will, just don't call me late for dinner" -S. Spooner
Danny Frank
Danny was born in the small town of Novelty, Ohio and grew up fishing the trout streams of the east as well as several of the steelhead tribs of the Great Lakes region. A great guy and incredible angler Danny is somewhat of a trout magnet and has a sick sixth sense about what the fish are doing.
With his retail shop experience and time guiding, Danny knows his way around most any river. Danny is currently guiding for Colorado Trout Hunters.
Favorite fly: #22 Olive WD-40
'I love fishing Cheesman or any other Colorado tailwater as long as it isn't the weekend' -D. Frank
Parker Clemens
Though Parker is the young pup of the wtotf crew he more than makes up for it with both his skills on the rod and behind the camera. Parker grew up not fishing the mountains of So. Cal. but we don't hold that against him. When not out and about fishing Colorado's tailwaters, you can usually find Parker sticking pigs along Bear Creek.
Favorite fly: #22 copper brassie
'I just love the South Platte......I mean the variety on this famous river is unmatched, with so many different sections to fish it's hard to believe it's all a part of the same river' -P. Clemens
Mike Miller
Mike fell in love with the fly after his first cast and in his opinion there is almost nothing better in life than having the streambed beneath his feet and rod in hand. Mike has received the Colorado Master Angler Award for his catch and release of a 21.4" Snake River Cutthroat, but is still on the hunt for that elusive 10 pound cutt. Mike is also the founder of wtotf.
Favorite fly:"Spooner's 'Muskrat Love'"
"I just can't bring myself to drink a beer I can see through." -M. Miller
Michelle Edwards
Michelle moved to Colrorado from L.A. 17 years ago and the once big time powder hound now finds inner peace with rod and reel in hand and a fish tight on the line. Though her time on the water has been shorter than some, Michelle soaks up her surroundings like a sponge and she tosses one hell of a fly.
When she's not on one of her favorite freestones, you can usually find her cruising the backcountry looking for cutts and brookies.
"I think Ullr is angry..............and since there's no powder, I'm hitting the river."M. Edwards
Sawan Nail 1969-2009
Sawan Nail passed away August 24th, 2009 quietly at his home in Denver, Colorado. Sawan was perhaps one of the finest anglers that was a part of the wild trout on the fly staff and his absense will make the streamside a little less inviting. Always one to share his knowledge, Sawan was a great teacher and had an amazing capacity for listening and understanding. He was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed.
Sawan knew how to find fish, big fish.....period. Sawan was an amazing angler that seemed to reek fishing knowledge and was great guy to boot. He previously worked as a guide and volunteered guiding for Casting for Recovery and was a superb tyer. A born teacher, if you saw Sawan on the water he was always happy to help figure things out.
Wherever Sawan is now we know he's tight to a big bow, fish on Sawan, fish on. You will always be missed.
